Terra Soups was born out of our love for creating plant-based, handcrafted, gourmet soups.

Based in San Francisco, California, we make small-batch, plant-based soup with organic, farm-fresh ingredients and serve at cafés, delis and bakeries around the Bay Area.

~ Why plant-based? ~

Because it tastes amazing.

We’ve always loved vegetables, legumes, and fresh herbs and never found enough soup that really highlighted the depth of flavors and complexity from plant-based ingredients. Our soups range from blended to hearty, and chances are, you may have never tasted these combinations. With over 20,000 edible plants in the world, we’re constantly seeking new flavor and texture profiles.

Because it’s what we need.

Plant-based diets are already well-recognized as the healthiest diet for humans. Research and practice has shown that most degenerative diseases, such as heart disease and cancer, can be reduced and eliminated through a plant-based diet and other lifestyle changes.  For us, this is a big part of why Terra Soups exists - to make delicious food that’s also good for your body and good for the environment. We pride ourselves in finding quality ingredients for our soups, and source produce locally from farmers and lower our environmental impact whenever possible.

Max Kiesler, Founder & Culinary Director

Max has been vegetarian since he was five years old, and started cooking for himself at an early age. He’s had a lifelong interest in food and cooking. After a successful career in the design/tech world, his and his wife’s company, Ideacodes, was acquired by Adobe in 2013, where he’s served as principal designer. He’s now focused on his passion for creating gourmet, plant-based soups that are perfect for the Bay Area.

Emily Chang,

Marketing Director

Emily is an award-winning designer and design strategist based in San Francisco. She’s currently Head of UX Design at Adobe, after having acted as a principal designer and creative director there since 2013, when Adobe acquired her and her husband’s company, Ideacodes.  Emily's work has garnered numerous awards and recognition from the web, design, and marketing communities. Her clients have included MTV, IDEO, MIT, the Sierra Club and Stanford University.  She’s been a vegetarian since she was eighteen, and has the lucky role of also being Chief Tasting Officer at Terra Soups.
